Der schwarze Domino is a 1929 German silent comedy directed by Victor Janson, based on the opéra-comique Le domino noir by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber with a libretto by Eugène Scribe.
At a masked ball, the young diplomat Horace de Massarena hopes to encounter again the mysterious woman dressed as a black domino whom he met one year earlier. He does not realize that the woman is Angela, daughter of his superior, Count Saint Lucar, and the woman he is already expected to marry.
Max Ehrlich plays Leonidas Elfort, First Secretary of the Legation (Erster Gesandtschaftssekretär). Valeria Blanka appears as Madame Elfort.
Filmportal records the original version as a 35mm, black-and-white silent film in the 1:1.33 format. It passed German censorship on May 8th 1929 and premiered on August 19th 1929.
