Gottfried Jonathan, a poorly paid bank clerk, is secretly in love with his blonde neighbour Käte Wachtel. When Käte cannot find work and falls behind with her rent, Jonathan tries to help her and becomes entangled in a chain of comic misunderstandings. An engagement as a film extra leads the story into the world of filmmaking.
The German censorship examination took place on March 21st 1932; the premiere followed on August 19th 1932.
The film was also known as Ich bin ja so verliebt... and Jonathan's Glückszylinder. Its title song, "Goldblondes Mädchen, ich schenk Dir mein Herz", became a popular number associated with Felix Bressart.
Max Ehrlich played Schmidt, the Kapellmeister.
