Susanne Braun, an illegitimate daughter raised in a Swiss girls' boarding school, travels to Berlin to discover the identity of her father. The lawyer Dr. Fuchs, who knows the truth, sends her to several possible fathers, creating a succession of comic misunderstandings. A young motorcyclist, Robert, follows Susanne and falls in love with her.
The German censorship examination took place on October 11th 1930; the premiere followed on November 22nd 1930.
A contemporary review by the young Billy Wilder in B.Z. am Mittag on November 21st 1930 singled out Max Ehrlich, writing that he "mit gelassener Ruhe die Fäden eines kleinen Intrigenspiels zieht" — calmly pulling the strings of a small intrigue.
Filmportal gives the original running time as 80 minutes. A surviving 35mm print screened by the Deutsches Historisches Museum in 2023 ran 71 minutes.
